Q) Sakshi can do a piece of work in 20 days. Tanya is 25% more efficient than Sakshi. The number of days taken by Tanya to do the same piece of work is:

a) 15 days              b) 16 days               c) 18 days                     d) 25 days

Ans:

Method 1:

Since Tanya is 25% more efficient, hence work done by Tanya is 1.25 times of Sakshi

or time taken by Tanya is 1/1.25 of time taken by Sakshi

Since Sakshi takes 20 days to do a work,

∴ Tanya will do the piece of work = 20/1.25 = 16 days

Hence, Answer is [B]

Method 2:

Ratio of time taken by Sakshi & Tanya: 20: T :: 125:100

(since, Tanya is 25% more efficient, she will take 25% less time than Sakshi)

∴ 20 : T = 5 : 4

∴ T = 20 x 4 /5 = 16 days

Hence, Answer is [B].
